HA-HA!~We're ON!
A friend asked/suggested that my band "The Bag'n'Pipe Hoppers" should play The Bite Of Seattle -- the weekend long food festival. I understood that The Bite was anit-busker(s), but apparently not.
I just spoke with Jesse & we're doin' it.
Robo should be there, Blake will hopefully be there, we might pull in a digeridoo player named Jed from Bellingham who's played with The Wicked Tinkers. I'd assume that we'd try to be at the same NW-corner of the Centre House just like Folklife.
Come out and make this big like Folklife was for us -- one helluva good time! :D

Mon, July 11, 2005 - 4:16 PMTyping while operating system on main hard drive was dieing.
Currently 1/2-way through rebuilding it.
It's actually required me to build a whole 'nother machine out of all my machines, and install a different operating system on my 2nd-best hard drive to hopefully be able to diagnose(sp) it.
Right now I'm concerned that something has gone on -- either...
1) my main hard drive has died taking all of my information on it -- very bad
2) something went on with trying to install a new operating system that wiped out the whole hard drive and not just the partition that had the operating system on it, thereby causing me to loos all of my data -- very bad
OR
3) basically both, which for obvious reason would be -- extremely bad
Wish Daegan luck, and acknowledge & accept that occasional spelling issues are presently the least of my problems right now. -

Mon, July 11, 2005 - 11:49 PMNo worries about the spelling errors!
I knew a guy whose monitor fried when he had to send important emails!
Typing without a monitor can result in interesting errors!

Wed, July 13, 2005 - 9:27 AM*AAAHHHHHH...*
Consulted with one of my computer hardware gurus last night. I'm not sure I wholly believe it yet myself, but he was able to resurect my wacked out & even reformatted drive.
I'm told it works again 100%, but we're getting together later this week to poke around on a few of my other computers -- and given that I have questions about some funky stuff that this resurected hard drive came out of, I think I'll wait to finish rebuilding the operating system.... But YAY it lives!!!

Re: The Bite Of Seattle 2005
Sat, July 23, 2005 - 10:45 AMHey, good morning -- it's Saturday.
We we're nearly all set up yesterday morning when we were shut down. We were told that we can't play drums and that we can't busk in our usual location.
Note that they said that we can't play "drums" -- they didn't say anything about other percussive instruments. So we plan to be back today similar to how we approached 7.4.05 -- testing ourselves within the opportunity to show our musicality using other insturments. And in addition to having my usual pipes on hand, I also intend to have some functional-art Highland bagpipes that I've been consulting on -- and coiencidentally, this particular set is called "percussion pipes" -- which are meant to be piped upon and at the same time rattled away on by a drummer w/ a set of sticks across the drones.
We'll see if we get the boot again or not.
Show up, look for us -- we'll have plenty of copies of our Folklife '05 CDs.
If we get kicked out again, we intend to do what we did Friday -- bail to our usual Westlake location.
Enjoy!

Re: The Bite Of Seattle 2005
Sat, July 23, 2005 - 5:05 PMI think they are just harrassing you to be asses, not that there are any rules or laws against your performing...
In fact, you probably have laws/rules in your favour if you really wanted to push it...
Then again, being willing to push means being willing to make sacrifices in worst case scenarios... -

Re: The Bite Of Seattle 2005
Sat, July 23, 2005 - 11:05 PMThere may be laws in our favour, but I know this -- when an event such as Folklife, The Bite, Bummershoot, etc are there using the grounds, even though the grounds are a public facility, they are renting the grounds at that point and the can make the rules.
Bogus?

forget The Bite
Sat, July 23, 2005 - 11:11 PMOK, what's the story...
On Friday we were told that we couldn't play drums or in our usual busking location at The Bite.
On Saturday we were told that we couldn't play... so we played two more sets and got out of there around close.
Ghesh, I didn' know Seattle had so many bike cops, horse cops, foot cops, DOC people, Patty-wagon RVs -- 3rd Ryche?
Dollars for doughnuts, we did as well for each hour that we play down at Westlake but considering the hastle, it wasn't worth it. Given the amount of BS and changing and conflicting information we received from The Bite, we're not headed there on Sunday. I proposed to the band that we hold an impromptue band meeting and moved that we vote on viewing The Bite as being able to bite us and wait until we're big and famous and they're beggin' us to play their event and then charge them 3x's too much.
Forget The Bite, it's about as bad as Bummershoot last September, instead ***CATCH MY FRIEND, MICHELLE PAYNE'S, SHOW AT MR. SPOT'S CHAI HOUSE SUNDAY @ 8PM.***
